The Urbandale Water Utility bills its customers monthly at a rate per thousand gallons water. A service availability fee is also billed monthly. The service availability fee covers the non-usage fixed costs associated with an account such as meter maintenance, billing, collection and accounting services.
Beginning with the May 1, 2024 bills, domestic water is billed at a rate of $6.94 per thousand gallons of water. Irrigation water is currently billed at a rate of $8.04 per thousand gallons of water. As irrigation water is not assessed sewer charges, customers still receive a savings of $4.00 or $5.05 per thousand gallons, depending upon the sewer district. The service availability fee is based upon the size of meter at the property. Residential properties are equipped with 5/8″ meters in most instances. The service availability fee for a 5/8″ meter is $5.23 and the service availability fee for a 1.0″ meter is $8.70. The service availability fees for meters 1.5″ through 6.0″ range from $17.42 – $139.33.
